The case for independence from DEFRA.

No taxation without representation, began the end of the British Empire and our sector needs to break ties with DEFRA for very much the same reasons.

  • The CSFG provided DEFRA with advice. The CSFG are comprised of industry and corporate lobbyists, all of them representing businesses whose primary motivation is money rather than animal care.
  • DEFRA did not have to rewrite our regulations, hell, they didn’t even want responsibility for a tourism or hotel sector - But despite having no experience in our field, no knowledge of how business functions and DEFRA still tried to impose a simultaneous pairing between an unworkable rating system and universal standardisation on an industry that they didn't understand.
  • Licensing Officers are hired to carry out inspections for numerous sectors - their qualification is unfocussed, and does not require any relavent or specialist knowledge of our industry.
  • The primary function of a local authority isn't to provide DEFRA with qualified inspectors to enforce flawed and pointless regulations - when local authorities' role was granting licenses for private businesses to operate, none of the problems we now see existed.
