DEFRA: It's the incompetence

Incompetent Rools:

Putting DEFRA in charge of writing regulations for an industry they knew nothing about is the equivalent of putting a team of incompetent civil servants in charge of writing regulations for a business sector that they knew nothing about.

Is DEFRA’s best excuse going to be that they are just frogs who have been slowly boiling themselves in autocratic infallibility for so long that they couldn’t possibly have known what they were doing?

DEFRA has an established history of blatant incompetence - I mean you just have to look at the chemicals in our rivers, shit on our beaches and the empty supermarket shelves to know that the department of food, the environment and rural affairs is a breeding ground for incompetence and corruption.

DEFRA wrote regulations in their own image: Paperwork. nothing else matters - cat welfare, dirty floors, mould on the walls - as long as the records are filled out properly, then you get 5 stars and a licence.

DEFRA wrote our entire regulatory framework on the basis of imaginary and superficial knowledge - and it’s this ignorance that gave them the false sense of security to ignore the dozens of red flags that has resulted in the massive damage they inflicted on our sector.

DEFRA want to refer to their incompetent mistakes as “unintended consequences” an unintended euphemism for not knowing their arse from their elbow because every regulation they wrote was intended to have consequences … it’s just that DEFRA didn’t care what those consequences were.

The level of cultural arrogance surrounding DEFRA is the result of repeatedly banging their heads on the floor in multiple rodeos, so why change a winning formula?

DEFRA know that the regulations are the problem, but as they have not been revoked or rewritten, it’s fair to conclude that DEFRA are the problem.

Incompetence is rife within government departments, but as your own incompetence is almost impossible to recognise, DEFRA holds daily prayer meetings for the entire department so like an empty chamber at a firing squad everyone can pray it wasn’t them.

When something is done so fast it’s not possible to compensate for an inability or unwillingness to do it well - But DEFRA reached the next level by taking months to get everything wrong and still did nothing well.

Incompetence is rewarded more often than not and there is nothing more pitiful than a promoted civil servant who is unable to come up with a believable lack of truth to excuse their department’s incompetence.

There is no shortage of dedication to wilful incompetence within government institutions. Because in a hierarchy, every employee is encouraged to rise to his own level of incompetence so as to indulge his superiors and not to embarrass the higher ups.

When DEFRA officials knew so little about our sector and knew they were are out of their depth, the only competent advice you can give yourself is to act less and think more.

The bottom line is that since these regulations were challenged DEFRA has responded with bungling incompetence and deflection. Something that underlines DEFRA's continuing irresponsible and negligent conduct perfectly. But it was the initial incompetence that illustrates that DEFRA couldn’t organise a bun fight in a brewery or a piss-up in a brothel and they still maintain the arrogance to imagine that they were competent enough to tell us how to run a cattery.
