DEFRA: The Clueless (Part III)

When I think of DEFRA, I think of small people with small minds acting like Gods in a world they don't understand and didn't create - But I also recognise that bureaucracies are padded out with society's dregs, the workshy, the unproductive muddling their way into a parasitic life-style full of overcompensating pensions and being coddled by the State until the day they die. And while they see themselves as the indispensible force formed to move wheels and implement policy, this is entirely overshadowed by massive abuses of power, denials of responsibility, evasion of accountability when they Fuck Up even the most simple of tasks Beyond All Recognition.

I want you to imagine an idyllic village High Street. A place where everyone is there to earn a living or provide a living for someone else.

In this High Street every shop is different, there are no chains and everyone is independantly minded and every product is individually presented and imbued with the characteristics of the owner.

  • Every shop sells a different product.
  • Every service is tailored to the individual.
  • Every shopkeeper or interaction depends on the day.

And then imagine how a couple of insane DEFRA bureaucrats got together over 10 too many vodka shots decided to turn us into automatons by outlawing any individuality or difference and through the provision of a star rating enforce standards and improvements in the UK's animal boarding facilities.

Without any data to show that this was needed or that it would work, and with no consultation or attempt at persuasion DEFRA took to enacting Trump-style Orange Mussolini dictats to force every family run store into a single chain with every aspect of owner's lives controlled by a set of insane regulations that allow no deviation from the rules without beng closed down by local authorities.
